Our narcissistic son

Aizay loves to look at his reflection in our black kitchen appliances. He likes to walk by slowly and sneak glances at his sullen expression as if he is practicing for the catwalk. He also likes to check himself out when he is dancing. He also puts his grimey fingers all over the black surface so we can be slightly embarrassed at posting these photos...

In these photos, the music he was dancing to was "Go" by Moby. Aizay definitely prefers Moby to Madonna. He wouldn't let me play any Madonna, in fact, he wouldn't let me change the song at all. We listened to 6 different remixes of "Go", only four of which met with his approval.

The second photo gives you an idea of how good a mirror our kitchen appliances can be. Plus, it is a cool photo. The first photo is simply my boy dancing with his doppelganger. And didn't you know it's super cool to let your diaper hang all out of your jeans?

Aizay is a very patient boy...

Easter, part 2

Although I expected Aizay to not understand the concept of an Easter egg hunt at all, he picked up on it instantly. This was the best part, as he ran around the yard shouting "Ehh" [i.e., egg] upon spotting each new pagan treasure.

"Okay, that's great. Where's the next one?"

"Ah HAH!"

"Ah HAH!

I hope God doesn't mind we celebrated Easter a week late.

So, we forgot to go out and by Easter eggs last week. Fortunately, Aizay is less-than-aware of the calendar, so Christine hooked him up today.


"Oh, my God, are there any more?"

Today, Aizay learned the utility of pockets.


Of course, it's not about the eggs, but what's inside the eggs.

Is this outfit right to wear to a tornado?

Aizay wore this new outfit Thursday. And about 3 hours after this picture was taken, we were in the basement waiting out some bad weather. A tornado came within 2 miles of our house and we got some hail that dented our car a tiny bit. When I went to bed Thursday I thought, "I guess it can sometimes be less than mundane living in Iowa. I got the mumps last month and a tornado came through my town." But really, I'm wrong-it is mundane here...we got off scott-free on the tornado front and they down-graded me from a "probable" mumps case to nothing when my lab results came back.

Can he sleep in it?

Yes, he can!

I was wondering if Aizay would take to the idea of taking naps in this Bob the Builder "ready bed" air mattress. I don't know if he will for sure...but this picture was taken about 2 minutes after we blew it up for the first time. (You can just see the box and the air pump at the edge of the photo.) Aizay ended up relaxing in it for about 20 minutes. Aizay loves Bob!
